Exploring Finnish Connections: UPC-PERU’s International Office and the School of Economics and Political Science Embark on Partner University Visits
In March, our engagements with partner institutions, namely the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) and Haaga-Helia, proved exceptionally fruitful. The purpose of the visit was twofold: to advance the ongoing project with JYU and to fortify partnerships for international initiatives at Haaga-Helia. Joining us on this journey were Dr. Claudia Sícoli, Director of Economics, and Josilú Carbonel, Director of the International Office.
The beginning of the project dates to 2022 when we received an invitation to participate in the Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) program extended by JYU in partnership with its School of Economics, Education, and the Universidad del Desarrollo de Chile (UDD). The initial phase involved immersive visits by professors and students from UPC-PERU and UDD in March and June of 2023. Concurrently, we worked on developing the «Doing Business in Finland, Chile, and Peru,» course, under the co-direction of Dr. Carlos Adrianzén, Dean of the School of Economics and Political Science at UPC-PERU.
Our most recent visit signified the onset of the project’s second phase, characterized by a collaborative teaching initiative led by Dr. Claudia Sícoli (UPC-PERU) and Dr. Bhavesh Sarna (JYU) for the course, «Sustainability in Emerging Markets.» This course delved into the realms of sustainability and innovation, particularly within the context of the circular economy prevalent in emerging markets.
The visits to both JYU and Haaga-Helia have paved the way for exciting new opportunities in future collaboration. UPC reaffirms its commitment to providing education of the highest level, offering its students the opportunity to live an international academic experience to shape global leader professionals.
