UPC Environmental Brigade: the new space in the fight against climate change
From Wednesday 13, students will be able to enroll in the UPC Environmental Brigade, a space for training UPC agents of change that seeks to promote environmental care and the fight against climate change.
The purpose of this initiative is to create an environmental awareness and education program that will be the basis for the generation of a group of volunteers made up of UPC students, and thus contribute to SDG 13 “Climate Action” of the UN Agenda 2030.
The topics to be addressed in the program are diverse; from the approach to climate change, to content related to greenhouse gases emissions, responsible consumption, eco-efficient habits, carbon credits in the market, renewable energy, among others. Thus, we seek to contribute to the protection of the environment, applying a playful and participatory methodology that will promote the creation of innovative projects in the fight against climate change.
The creation of the UPC Environmental Brigade is part of our Sustainability and University Social Responsibility Policy, launched at the end of 2021, which promotes a conscious and sustainable management of the organization, with the development of initiatives under three priority lines of action: (1) Quality education for all, (2) Green Campus and (3)
Innovation for sustainable development. The main area related to Green Campus aims to provide our students with an environmentally sustainable place of study and to promote good practices for the fight against climate change.
Registration dates are from Wednesday, April 13 to Sunday, April 24. To register you can access the online form (Link) and fill out the required data, so you can be part of the UPC Environmental Brigade.
The activities are free and will be developed on-line over seven sessions, which will begin on April 29 during the Cultural Fridays schedule (from 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm). Remember that with your participation in 20 registered hours, you can earn an extra academic credit for successfully completing all the sessions and challenges of the UPC Environmental Brigade.
Who can participate? All students interested in protecting the environment and who are looking to collaborate in creative projects to fight climate change.
At UPC, we are committed to promoting the sustainability approach in all areas of our lives and organizations. Thus, we seek to promote respectful dialogue on various issues related to sustainable development, which is the starting point to work on the main problems that involve us globally.
